The Gulf of Morbihan (“small sea” in Breton), located on the Armorican Atlantic facade, gave its name to the department.
This place is amazing due to its many islands, its changing landscapes according to the vagaries of time and tides, and its countless species of birds ! Let yourself be seduced by the spectacle that gives you the Gulf and its events !
The morbihannais will tell you that in the Gulf “there are as many islands as days in a year !”. There are 300 islands of which thirty are inhabited, all more charming than the others. On most of the inhabited islands, you can go there by boat, to appreciate their beaches, their pedestrian circuits, their businesses, and their breathtaking views of the Gulf. Two of them form a commune: Arz and Île-aux-Moines .
