Rochefort-en-Terre flowery village
The flowering is a tradition in Rochefort-en-Terre: at the beginning of the 20th century the American painter Alfred Klots who did a lot for the city and especially the restoration of the castle, encouraged the Rochefortais to bloom their houses and balconies by creating an annual prize of the most beautiful gardener, offering them during the winter, to shelter their most fragile plants in the greenhouse of the castle (this tradition is perpetuated since 1945). Rightly, Rochefort-en-Terre can boast of being one of the “1er Villages Fleuris de France”.
